NORMAL WEEKLY SCHEDULE: All permitted flowers and decorations are removed every THURSDAY beginning at 6:00 A.M. Holiday periods below temporarily replace the normal Thursday schedule.

Holiday cleaning begins at 6:00 a.m. on the Staff Cleaning date. Anything you wish to keep must be removed before that date.

GROUNDS & MAUSOLEUM RULES

A consistent maintenance system helps protect the dignity of every memorial, improves safety, and keeps Hollywood Forever beautiful throughout the year.

WEEKLY THURSDAY FLOWER REMOVAL

  • Except during published holiday decorating periods, Hollywood Forever’s scheduled flower and decoration removal day is every Thursday.
  • Weekly removal begins at 6:00 a.m. Thursday. Families wishing to keep permitted flowers or decorations must remove them before that date.
  • After an area has been cleaned, fresh flowers may be placed again. Items removed by Cemetery staff will be discarded.
  • Flowers or decorations may be removed before Thursday if wilted, dead, damaged, unsafe, unsightly, prohibited, or if removal is necessary for a funeral, interment, irrigation, mowing, landscaping, cleaning, construction, or other Cemetery operation.
  • During a published holiday period, the Annual Flower & Decoration Schedule supersedes the normal Thursday removal cycle.

GROUNDS – FRESH FLOWERS ONLY

  • Fresh-cut flowers are permitted year-round outdoors when placed in a Cemetery-provided vase or securely on a monument base as appropriate.
  • Artificial, silk, plastic, dried, or other imitation flowers are not permitted.
  • Flowers and decorations must remain within the applicable memorial space and may not encroach on another space, roadway, walkway, irrigation equipment, or maintenance access.

LAWN AND FLAT-MARKER GRAVES

  • Fresh-cut flowers only in an approved in-ground or Cemetery-provided vase.
  • No artificial flowers, freestanding decorations, stones, borders, fencing, edging, stakes, hooks, solar lights, glass, ceramics, statues, or similar objects except temporary holiday decorations expressly allowed by the annual schedule.
  • Holiday decorations must remain within the grave space and may not interfere with mowing, irrigation, interments, or neighboring spaces.
  • Potted plants must be placed on the monument or marker and not interfere with maintenance. Plants will be removed wilted, dead, damaged, unsafe, unsightly, prohibited, or if removal is necessary for a funeral, interment, irrigation, mowing, landscaping, cleaning, construction, or other Cemetery operation.

UPRIGHT MONUMENTS AND PRIVATE FAMILY ESTATES

  • Fresh-cut flowers may be placed in Cemetery-provided vases or securely on the monument base.
  • Small, tasteful personal decorations may be placed on the monument base during published holiday decorating periods. They may not extend onto surrounding turf or beyond the memorial/estate footprint.
  • Private family estates may receive reasonable additional flexibility within the estate footprint, but no item may create a hazard, damage landscaping or memorial work, block access, or interfere with operations.
  • No artificial flowers are permitted, including monument graves and private family estates.
  • Potted plants must be placed on the monument or marker and not interfere with maintenance. Plants will be removed wilted, dead, damaged, unsafe, unsightly, prohibited, or if removal is necessary for a funeral, interment, irrigation, mowing, landscaping, cleaning, construction, or other Cemetery operation.

MAUSOLEUMS, CRYPTS AND NICHES

  • Fresh-cut flowers are permitted in Cemetery-provided vases at mausoleum crypts and niches.
  • Loose artificial flowers, floor displays, and freestanding artificial arrangements are not permitted.
  • Floors, corridors, stairs, benches, doorways, crypt fronts, niche fronts, ventilation openings, and access paths must remain clear.
  • No tape, glue, adhesive strips/hooks, suction devices, wire, screws, drilling, paint, markers, lipstick, stickers, decals, or similar attachments may be used on marble, granite, bronze, glass, walls, crypt fronts, niche fronts, or doors.

FUNERAL FLOWERS

  • Flowers and floral arrangements placed in connection with a funeral, memorial service, or interment may remain for up to five days following the service.
  • They may be removed sooner if wilted, damaged, unsafe, obstructive, or if removal is necessary for another service or Cemetery operation.

PROHIBITED ITEMS AND ACTIVITIES

  • Glass; open flames; windmills; loose stones or shells; fencing, borders or enclosures; sharp stakes; exposed wire; unstable supports; solar lights; benches, chairs, or tables not installed by the Cemetery; or anything creating a trip, mowing, irrigation, fire, or maintenance hazard.
  • Planting, digging, trenching, edging, turf cutting, fertilizing, herbicide/pesticide application, or alteration of Cemetery landscaping or irrigation.
  • Decorating Cemetery trees, shrubs, lawns, statues, fountains, buildings, signs, benches, or other common-area features.
  • Items of significant sentimental or monetary value should not be left at memorial locations.

VISITOR CONDUCT AND VEHICLES

  • Respect funerals and memorial services and follow staff directions. Do not enter an active funeral, interment, disinterment, cremation, open grave, construction, or maintenance area unless authorized.
  • No disruptive conduct, loitering, solicitation, unauthorized vending, recreational sports, skateboarding, or activities interfering with families or Cemetery operations.
  • Vehicles must remain on designated roads and parking areas, obey posted speed limits and staff directions, and yield to funeral processions, pedestrians, and Cemetery equipment.

MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY AND RESPONSIBILITY

  • Flowers and decorations are placed at the visitor’s risk. Hollywood Forever is not responsible for items lost, stolen, weather-damaged, displaced, removed, or discarded.
  • Cemetery Management may remove without prior notice any item that violates these rules or is unsafe, unsightly, deteriorated, offensive, excessive, abandoned, encroaching, or disruptive to Cemetery operations.

Rules, permitted items, maintenance practices, and annual removal schedules may be amended by Cemetery Management at any time.
