  1. Sister, friend, occasional PA and huge fan

Steve, you have a left a large hole in so many lives, everyone who appreciated your care and concern for others and your wicked sense of humour. No wonder you loved Sir Terry Pratchett and enjoyed your various media appearances so from Sir Terry I give you:

“The whole of life is just like watching a film. Only it’s as though you always get in ten minutes after the big picture has started, and no-one will tell you the plot, so you have to work it out all yourself from the clues.” – Moving Pictures

“so much universe and so little time” – The Last Hero

We miss you so much, your sense of humour, your thoughtfulness and sensitivity, your generosity with your time, compassion and financial help when needed. COVID robbed us of more precious time together but you left us all with some cracking memories Steve.
    Love you!

  2. Lifelong friend (pretty much)

Steve and I started St Anne’s Heath Primary School on the same day in 1959, with Brian Hayward being part of our small gang. We three went on to Strode’s Grammar School in 1965; Steve stayed on for the 6th form (16+), while I went off to college (and got lost for a few years). Steve was a constant, steady presence through my life. When Steve was at BMW he moonlighted and wrote an invoicing matching programme for me when I had a big marketing job. He consoled me when my first marriage broke down and, later invited me to enjoy the various distractions of San Francisco (sadly I couldn’t go). He welcomed Nicki and I to SF on our honeymoon and took us to baseball and later met us in Venice Beach.
He was always generous with his time and gifts and, although I didn’t see him often after he came back to the UK, I always thought of him as a good friend.

I’ve know Steve since we were 19. Wonderful years of growing up, finding and losing at life sometimes, house sharing, mad drives over chobham common at night in his 3litre sports car and generally enjoying the music and freedom of the 70s. Recently reconnected and honoured to be called his friend. RIP dear Steve. Very sadly missed
