Two Years Today
No sooner met but they looked;No sooner looked but they loved;
No sooner loved but they sighed;
No sooner signed but they asked one another the reason;
No sooner knew the reason but they sought the remedy;
And in these degrees have they made a pair of stairs to marriage…

On what would have been your 58th Birthday
You will always be the man who truly shines
Bright as a star
In darkest times
When you were my husband
you made me so proud
you would always stand out
in any crowd
You, my dear husband
who I truly love
will forever be the brightest star
that shines above
Miss you everyday darling…Marsha

Only a year ago tomorrow...
All things uncomely and broken,All things worn-out and old,
The cry of a child by the roadway,
The creak of a lumbering cart,
The heavy steps of the ploughman,
splashing the wintry mould,
Are wronging your image that blossoms
A rose in the deeps of my heart.
The wrong of unshapely things
Is a wrong too great to be told;
I hunger to build them anew
And sit on a green knoll apart,
With the earth and the sky and the water,
Remade, like a casket of gold
For my dreams of your image that blossoms
A rose in the deeps of my heart.

I carry you in my heart
i carry your heart with me (i carry it inmy heart) i am never without it (anywhere
i go you go, my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing, my darling)
i fear
no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet) i want
no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you
here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart
i carry your heart (i carry it in my heart)

Claire what a wonderful tribute you have done for your father! Mike was a wonderful father to you all and the best godfather I could have asked for. I don’t know many godfathers that fly their god daughters half way round the world for their summer holidays and then spoils them rotton with trips to Lake Tahoe, dinner out in the city, trips to Alcatraz and a road trip with James and Claire to visit Benny at University with lots of adventures on the way. Being able to spend some time with Mike a few weeks ago meant so much to me and I’m so thankful to you all for letting me come over when it was a very difficult time for you all. My love goes out to you all, speak to you all soon. Lots of Love Emma.xxxxxx

To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded!

Very moved to see the beautifully produced Tribute for Mike. I grew up in Weybridge (UK) with Mike and saw him for the occasional pint until he married and moved to San Francisco. My love and best wishes to all those who will miss him dreadfully.David

It was with great sadness that I learned of Mike’s passing. He was a very good friend, and memories of the good times we spent together will remain with me always, and will forever serve to remind me that a sideways angle on life and all it’s trials and tribulations is a helpful and amusing way to approach things. I learned this from Mike ! I will miss Mike, as will everyone who knew him, and I just wish that I had seen him more recently and more often. I send much love to all his friends and family.

Poem
The Lord saw you were tiredAnd a cure was not to be,
So he put his arms around you
And whispered,”Come with me.”
With tearful eyes, we watched you suffer
And saw you fade away.
Although we loved you dearly,
We could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
A beautiful smile at rest,
God broke our hearts to prove
He only takes the best.
It’s lonesome here without you
We miss you so each day,
Our lives aren’t the same
Since you went away.
When days are sad and lonely,
And everything goes wrong
We seem to hear you whisper,
“Cheer up and carry on.”
Each time I see your picture,
You seem to smile and say,
“Don’t cry, I’m in God’s keeping,
We’ll meet again someday.
