“Nolan Leary was born on April 28, 1889, and died on December 12, 1987.
An actor as well as a playwright, Leary played on the stage as far back as 1911, later appearing in over 150 movies, mainly in bit parts.
He may best be remembered as the deaf-mute father of Lon Chaney (James Cagney) in the 1958 film Man of a Thousand Faces.
In small screen circles, Leary had a recurring role as Ted Baxter’s father on the hit television series, The Mary Tyler Moore Show.”
