Dear Patrick,

I don’t know if they have e-mail up there, but I wanted to say goodbye to you. It’s not easy for me … you have always been the most precious and faithful of my friends. Together we had fun, as the song goes, “…all our lives we had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun.” Through high school and college and after, we reached for the stars together. You were a talented writer, musician, actor, voyager, photographer, and chef … everything you did, you did with a zest for life. At times in trouble yourself, you were always there for me and others … always ready to give words of comfort and guidance. Your smile was a beam of light and life. You have me a reason to fight, and I owe it to you to continue fighting. Now, you have taken your wings to join the angels in paradise … May the Lord receive you and grant you eternal rest. Take care, Patrick; you will always be with me.
